Hosted by LotusUserGroup.org, presented by BlackBerry

In this technical deep dive session we will discuss key performance improvements within the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and how those improvements will positively impact your BlackBerry solution environment. During the second half of the session, we will discuss how the improvements made can be leveraged to establish best practices for scaling and tuning your BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Pavel Shkolnikov, Development Manager,
BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino, Research In Motion

About the Presenter:

Pavel Shkolnikov graduated from Hunter College, City University of New York, in 1999. Pavel worked with Lotus Notes and Domino since 1997, first as a co-op with Binary Tree Inc., where he created mail and PIM migration tools to help customer migrate data from legacy platforms to Lotus Notes and Domino. He joined IBM/Lotus as a Software Developer in 2000 and worked on R6 release, creating Active Directory synchronization tools (ADSync et al), Domino License Tracking feature, and other things.

In 2002 Pavel joined Research In Motion, first as a Software Developer on BES Domino Team, and later became a manager of that team. Pavel lead his team through many successful BES releases, starting with BES 4.0. He and members of his team are working hard every day to ensure that BES Domino product integrates exceptionally well with all versions of Notes and Domino, that the product is feature rich, secure, scalable and reliable and that the BlackBerry Solution remains the top mobile solution for Lotus Notes and Domino platform.

The presentation is free to LotusUserGroup.org members, but requires pre-registration.

Notes Tips and Tricks Blog back up and running

As reported from the Domino Wiki

Many of you remember former IBM’er Alan Lepofsky’s popular blog, “Notes Tips and Tricks.”  It’s a tough act to follow, but Notes product manager Dwight Morse and information developer Julie Brown have teamed up to bring you a new Notes 8.x Tips blog.

You’ll find tips (like “Cool Features for Scheduling a Meeting” or “Recent Contacts”) that use lots of graphics to speed your learning! There’s even a tip on “Feeds,” which lets you subscribe to the Tips blog as a preset! Just click the “Subscribe to preset feeds” icon Subscribe to preset feeds icon in the Feeds section of your Notes Sidebar in Notes 8 or higher.

If you have requests for tips or if there’s a particular area of Notes that you would like more tips on, feel free to comment on the blog or on this wiki article.

This is a great resource!  Take advantage of it!

IBM launches Sametime 3D virtual world

Thinking Green…. cut down on travel, costs and save time while still getting the personal touch.  With IBM’s Lotus Sametime 8x and plugins for virtual worlds leveraging the OpenSim and Second Life, IBM is building a bridge between virtual worlds and web conferencing.  Watch the video and listen to the use case that shows how you can offer visual, personal and interpersonal experiences to a web conference that helps to enrich your experience in collaboration.

You can also see what Forterra is doing with Sametime integration into their Virtual World.  Very impressive technologies and integration!!

See you around the Sandbox!

The VIEW Magazine and a free article on Green and DAOS

When was the last time you reviewed The View?  They are the same ones that conduct the Admin and Lotus Developer conferences.  The view has been around for EVER and consistantly produced high quality, deep dive, technical articles on topics that provided value in managing and developing in my Lotus environment.

They use to send them to me for distribution at all of the User Group meetings for free.  Now that we have gone mostly virtual..  I wanted to give them a good plug here and share with you that their most recent free article is a great one on Maximize the Green Benefits of Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS) for Notes and Domino 8.5
