Notes Tips and Tricks Blog back up and running

As reported from the Domino Wiki

Many of you remember former IBM’er Alan Lepofsky’s popular blog, “Notes Tips and Tricks.”  It’s a tough act to follow, but Notes product manager Dwight Morse and information developer Julie Brown have teamed up to bring you a new Notes 8.x Tips blog.

You’ll find tips (like “Cool Features for Scheduling a Meeting” or “Recent Contacts”) that use lots of graphics to speed your learning! There’s even a tip on “Feeds,” which lets you subscribe to the Tips blog as a preset! Just click the “Subscribe to preset feeds” icon Subscribe to preset feeds icon in the Feeds section of your Notes Sidebar in Notes 8 or higher.

If you have requests for tips or if there’s a particular area of Notes that you would like more tips on, feel free to comment on the blog or on this wiki article.

This is a great resource!  Take advantage of it!

Getting LS09 Files from LotusLive

There seems to be some slight confusion as to where to get the LS09 files from LotusLive.  I do admit there is a little assimulation (my favorite word) that needs to happen with the interface… but once you click it in your brain it seems so logical (though it did take me a few….)

Once logged into LotusLive select FILES – this will take you to a river of conent that has been uploaded.  I did find that CSGDEMO’s file stream – has all of the COLLECTIONS of files (new concept for some… IBM has been using that term internally in Cattail for a while).  All of the collections are categorized in the names of the tracks.  This is actually easier once you know the terms.

Don’t know who you don’t know…??

This is a great story on the relevance of “person suggestion engines” and the power of discovering who you don’t know you don’t know.   IBM started doing this in the early 2000’s with the Discovery Server.  The studies found that there were relationships that could be gathered from content,  trying to make a connection between “people, places and things”.  Now we have content being produced to the rate of Pedibytes a day.  To be able to do something with this data, to gather statistics on potential connections and relationships that can be relevant to our personal and business lives.   The value of finding connections based context can have a powerful influence and drive to getting to know the people to share, gather and collaborate with to help safe time, money, and duplicate efforts in an organization. Read thoughts on how IBM is helping to foster this concept.

First day at Lotusphere…

Well I will tell you now that I am in IBM only sessions all day… specifically focused for the IBM technical specialists…  and I now the question on your mind is… What new announcements can Lotus bring to the table at Lotusphere this year… IBM has had so many great announcements prior to LS that it seems there can be no more to say….

Totally not true! of course I can’t tell you… but be sure to check into the LIVE Opening Session on Monday Jan 19th.

Look for me… I will be there!
